WordPress is a powerful platform used to create striking websites and blogs. The standalone installation will contain all the standard features that most websites and blogs need. However, plugins can be installed within the existing WordPress installation to enhance the capability of the specific instance.
Instead of incorporating all possible combinations into the WordPress installation, each user is encouraged to research the library of WordPress plugins available for free to be downloaded and installed on websites. Each plugin is written by a user and then uploaded for approval and addition to the WordPress plugin gallery.
In this article I will share with you some WordPress photo gallery plugins that will work with any WordPress blog to make photo management easier.
1. NextGEN Gallery – Fully integrated photo gallery for your WordPress Blog
The NextGEN WordPress gallery plugin is the most used plugin for managing albums and galleries. It provides the ability to organize images into photo galleries, which can be organized into albums.
Each photo gallery has a title and description and the images from that gallery can be sorted and arranged the way you want to using thumbnails at a size that you can specify.
2. Fotobook – Link Facebook to a WordPress Blog
For those of you whose photos reside in an album on Facebook, this plugin will link to the Facebook page and import the photos into the WordPress blog and create photo galleries. Multiple Facebook accounts can be accessed to include the desired photos in the blog gallery. Fotobook requires PHP-5 for full functionality.
3. AWSOM Pixgallery – Create a Portfolio for Your Webcomic
The AWSOM Pixgallery plugin is designed for you if you maintain a photo gallery and an archive of images. To prevent copyright infringement, this program watermarks the images, creates thumbnails, and allows specific comments and captions to be added to each image. Perfect for artist blogs where work is sold directly to collectors.
4. PDImageAnimation – Interface for Clipart, Images, and Photos
Various view modes are supported for you if you are seeking open-content images that have just been added to the slideshow gallery slideshine.de. This plugin will store additional information pertaining to statistics and the author. Customizable views enhance the look and feel of this plugin to accommodate your taste.
5. Flickr Gallery – Adds Images from Flickr to a WordPress Blog
Photos, thumbnails, and galleries from Flickr can be added to WordPress for easy management. Photo galleries are easily managed without having to return to the instance of Flickr. Blog readers will come back just to investigate the new ways images are displayed. Clicking on the thumbnail image will activate the Lightbox effects.
9. Fancybox – Integrates Fancybox with WordPress
This plugin uses jQuery to interface with Fancybox when thumbnails are linked to an image. No additional configuration efforts are necessary.

Capability to drag and drop photos to the perfect location on the webpage makes this a very useful photo gallery plugin for the blogger who has many sizes of photos that must float within the text. Links can be added to the photos in a progression that will take the blog visitor to various pages to explore content.
If you cannot find the proper functionality within the existing WordPress photo gallery plugins, suggestions can be made directly to WordPress or new plugins are accepted from the user community.

I m looking for a photo gallery plugin for wordpress that have the thumbnails on one side and the photo is on the other side, changes by clicking on the thumbnail.

Prasad, what I am using on most of the sites is the NextGen gallery along with the jQuery Colorbox plugin.
I am also planning to develop my own plugin that is lighter, but with fewer features.
